Step aboard the 30-meter-long Myklebust Ship—a reconstruction of Norway’s largest known Viking ship. Explore the exhibition through play, with VR experiences and interactive installations. Don’t miss the cinema film “A Viking funeral”, and test your knowledge of Viking raids and journeys across the world.
The exhibition at the center is available in Norwegian, English, and German. In addition, you can use an audio guide at no extra cost in Spanish, French, English, Italian, Dutch and German. The audio guide is accessed via your own smartphone, using the center’s free Wi-Fi. We recommend bringing headphones/earbuds.
Sagastad is a modern center that opened in 2019. The distinctive black landmark building that houses the ship and exhibitions is an attraction in itself. We have no doubt that this is the world’s most beautiful boathouse!
The center is located right by the fjord in the heart of the village town of Nordfjordeid—exactly halfway between the coast with the surfing paradise of Hoddevika and the spectacular Vestkapp plateau, and at the other end the high mountains overlooking turquoise lakes and glacier arms in Loen and Olden. No matter where you stay in Nordfjord, Sagastad is no more than about a one-hour drive away.

Closed Sunday–Monday.
Open for groups and cruise ship calls by arrangement.
December–January:
Closed.
February–March:
Tuesday–Saturday: 12:00–16:00
Closed Sunday–Monday and during Easter, 21–29 March.
April:
Closed due to launching operations.
May–September:
Open daily, Monday–Sunday: 09:00–17:00.
