Gloppen is a mecca for those who care about getting moving and being active with friends or family. In Sandane you may find Norway’s finest local hiking area in Trivselsskogen. When it comes to mountains, Eggenipa is something most people want to summit. If you’re looking for something spectacular, the longer hike to Gjegnen will be your trip. Maybe the hikes around the U-valleys in Jardalen and Breidalen are a suitable challenge? The area in Gloppen is accessible—you just have to want to walk. Enjoy the hikes with family and friends, breathe in the champagne air, and take as much time as you like.
Gloppen is a thrill for those who do trail biking, and one day you might dream of the route from Haugsvarden. Gloppen is like a great history encyclopedia for anyone interested in culture and local history. A rich find with the Eide Chieftain shows that great warriors once lived in the area. Gloppen also has the largest—and the only authentic—clinker-built jekt still remaining in Norway. The Holvikejekt is referred to by enthusiasts as “the sea’s stave church.”
Food matters, and in Gloppen it matters extremely. The local food producers are proud of products that have won awards all over the world. Gardsbrenneriet, Påldtun, Sølvane Gard, and Kandal Ysteri og Gardsmat form the backbone of skilled producers. We can also recommend a visit to Gloppen Hotell, where you can enjoy homemade, delicious food from an award-winning kitchen.

Gloppen is like a big, active nature park with offerings of a quality you might not have expected in a slightly smaller place.
