Nordfjord Farm Visit

Accommodation in a charming 18th-century house in Nordfjordeid, close to fjords, mountains and wildlife in the heart of the Nordfjord region.

General information

Solstova is a charming 18th-century house located on a working farm in Nordfjordeid, and a great base for exploring the Nordfjord region. With short distances to fjords, mountains and local experiences, everything is in place for a memorable stay. The accommodation is part of Nordfjord Gardseventyr, located in the heart of Nordfjord, and is well suited for families, couples and others looking for a historic stay close to nature, wildlife and experiences in the region.

Here, you stay close to nature, with red deer in the forest and salmon in the Eidselva river as your nearest neighbours. The farm is home to Norwegian fjord horses, alpacas, goats, chickens and rabbits. In addition to meeting the animals up close, it may also be possible to book alpaca walks from the farm for groups of three to six people.

The house itself has one bedroom with a double bed, a loft with a double bed and a sofa bed in the living room. In total, the house can accommodate up to six guests, but it is best suited for smaller groups of up to four people. The house includes a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, living room and washing machine, and has been adapted for modern use while preserving its historic character. The fireplace in the living room creates a warm and cosy atmosphere after days spent exploring Nordfjord. Solstova includes made-up beds and towels as part of the stay.

The farm is within walking distance of the centre of Nordfjordeid, with cafés, shops and local services, while still offering peaceful rural surroundings close to the Eidselva river, the mountains and local wildlife. The area around Solstova offers many opportunities for outdoor activities and nature experiences. The farm is located at the foot of Trollenykjen, a popular mountain hike with views over several branches of the Nordfjord and towards Hornindalsvatnet, Europe’s deepest lake. The hike starts directly from the farm and climbs 898 metres to the summit. It takes around 3–4 hours and is best suited for those with some mountain hiking experience. There are also many other hiking options nearby, and the house includes a guidebook with information about local hikes.

Eidselva is well known for salmon fishing, and on warm summer days it can also be a nice place for a swim. The farm is located right by the river, and there is a cosy walking path from the farmyard along the river. By agreement, guests may also use the area by the boathouse when fishing is not taking place.

Solstova is also a good base for day trips around the Nordfjord region. From Nordfjordeid, it takes approximately 30 minutes to Sandane, 40 minutes to Stryn, 45 minutes to the coastal town of Måløy and around 1 hour and 40 minutes to the surfing beach at Hoddevik.
