Loen
Loen is a small and idyllic village at the very end of Nordfjord, yet it offers world-class experiences. Here you’ll find forest-clad hills and distinctive mountains with snow-covered peaks rising straight up from the silver-bright Nordfjorden. With short distances between fjord, valley and mountain summit, Loen is a destination that stays with you – and makes it hard not to want to come back.
Loen Skylift – from fjord to mountain in just a few minutes
Loen Skylift is one of the most spectacular gondola lifts in the world. In just a few minutes, it takes you from fjord level up to the top of Hoven, 1,011 metres above sea level. The ride offers panoramic views of fjord, mountains and valleys – an experience in itself, whether you’re on foot, on skis, or simply want to enjoy the view.
Via Ferrata Loen – Via Ferrata Loen – climbing with a view
For those looking for a challenge, Via Ferrata Loen is a highlight. The secured climbing route follows the mountainside up towards the top of Hoven, with stunning views all the way. Along the way you cross Gjølmunnebrua – the longest via ferrata bridge in Europe. The bridge hangs 750 metres above sea level and stretches 120 metres across the 160-metre-deep ravine.
ZipLine at Hoven – a thrill in your stomach
At the top of Hoven, even more excitement awaits. Here you’ll find two zip lines of 125 and 95 meters respectively, where you whizz across the ravine in safe conditions – but with a guaranteed stomach-drop thrill. The zip lines are only a 5–10 minute walk from the top station of Loen Skylift.
Loen Active – activities on fjord and land
In the middle of the village you’ll find the activity provider Loen Active. Here, experienced guides can take you on guided kayaking trips on the fjord, tailored to both beginners and experienced paddlers. If you want a guided hike, SUP, or another activity, they’ll find a solution that suits your level and your wishes.

For a truly special experience, you can also head to Hoven Restaurant, located right on the edge of the mountain. Here you’ll get both à la carte and pizza – served with a view that’s hard to beat.
