The path continues northeast from Tystadstøylen through a pine and birch forest just before you cross into the mountain terrain. You pass Lomvatnet lake on the way up to Haugsvarden. There are fantastic views throughout the walk, and from the summit you look down onto two fjords. You can also see many of Sunnmøre’s mountains and the distinctive Hyeneshesten mountain. Haugsvarden is 862 metres above sea level.

Walk back the same way you came.

About 500 metres south/southeast of Tystadstøylen is a Gamme turf hut that belongs to Nordfjord Folkehøgskule (folk high school). It's beautifully situated and can be used by anyone. The turf hut has a wood-burning stove inside and a fire pit outside.
