Are you a motorhome tourist in Nordfjord?

Nordfjord is a popular destination for motorhome tourists. With short distances between fjord, mountains and coast, it’s easy to experience a lot on the same trip. To ensure good experiences for both visitors and residents, it’s important to use designated places for parking, overnight stays and emptying. This is how we take care of the nature and local communities that make Nordfjord a special destination.

Wild camping and the right of public access

The right of public access gives the right to travel and stay in uncultivated land, but does not apply to free parking with a motorised vehicle. Motorhomes must be parked in designated places or with permission from the landowner. Show consideration for nature, agriculture and private property. Read more about the right of public access here: The right to roam

Emptying stations

Emptying greywater and toilets must be done at approved emptying stations. Here you’ll find an updated overview of registered emptying stations in Vestland county, including Nordfjord: Emptying stations

Waste and consideration

Use established waste collection points and leave the place the way you would like to find it. Small choices from each individual help ensure that Nordfjord can continue to be an open, clean and accessible destination.

Parking and overnight stays:

Some road widenings and rest areas along the road are primarily for use by heavy transport and short stops. These are not intended for overnight stays. We recommend using established motorhome areas in the region.

There are several campsites and dedicated motorhome areas in the region, and some towns also offer designated parking spaces for motorhomes. Overnight stays on private land require permission from the landowner.
