General information

Myklebustsætra lies right beside the main road between Ålfoten and Svelgen, and should not be confused with others of the same name.

This is an old summer farm with a long and rich history. In the past, there were as many as 30 buildings here and at its peak the farm was shared among twelve farmers from Myklebust. Summer farming was long an important part of farm operations, where people spent the summer milking, churning, and making cheese and butter.

Many stories are also connected to the place, about wood nymphs in Myklebustdalen and about the last bear in Ålfoten, shot in 1888. What is special about Myklebustsætra is that dairy farming still continues here today thanks to the easy access by road. The place is accesible by car and you can park closely and experience the historic farms.
