Keipen 1362m

Hike to Keipen, a challenging 1362-meter mountain hike in Nordfjord. The trip is long with unique rock formations and beautiful nature.

General information

Between Bremanger- and Kinn municipality lies the mountain Keipen. It is one of the highest points in the area and the hike starts from the village of Svelgen. Along the way you pass characteristic shelf-shaped rock formations from the Devonian period.

The hike is very long and at times demanding. The terrain features narrow paths at height and difficult terrain some places. Therefore we recommend that you do extensive research and preparing before you go. The name Keipen is a typical mountain name in Norway, so make sure you have read up on the correct mountain.

Due to the length, the hike should be planned for a day with stable and fine weather. It is also possible to join guided hikes to the mountain for those unfamiliar with the area. If you go alone you are travelling at your own risk.

Note that the hike takes place in a conservation area. Conservation areas sometimes have their own rules, so familiarize yourself with the rules before you go.
