More than 6,000 years ago, a massive rockslide came down the mountainside in the inner end of Oldedalen. Huge boulders were left scattered across the hillside, forming the rockslide that surrounds Melkevoll Bretun today. Melkevoll Bretun Camping is located within this rocky landscape, offering cabins and camping during the summer season.
At one of the viewpoints, around one of the biggest stones in this scree, the owner of Melkevoll Bretun - Inge Melkevoll - has built a unique venue called Blue Mountain Hall using stone, timber and glass. From here, you can enjoy views of glaciers, towering mountains and the spectacular Vollfossen waterfall. The Blue Mountain Hall is built in harmony with nature and its surroundings.
COURSES AND RENTALS
The Blue Mountain Hall is built around a big rock that is one of the hall's walls. The idea was to create a gathering place in harmony with nature, where we have concerts, courses and various types of events. The Blue Mountain Hall was finished during the summer 2018, and has since then been used for yoga classes, retreats, concerts and courses.
It is possible to rent this hall to some types of gatherings and cultural events.
● The hall seats up to 110 people.
● Tables and chairs are available for up to 60 people.
● Toilets and water are available in the reception building at Melkevoll Bretun, a one-minute walk from the hall.
● Available for alcohol-free events only.
