Eggenipa
Eggenipa is, with its distinctive character, one of the most photographed mountain formations in Vestland.
With its sharp and pointed profile, the mountain has become an icon for photographers and hiking enthusiasts alike.

From the parking area in Øvredalen, there is a steep climb up to the ridge. From there, the route continues with sections of scrambling along a surprisingly wide mountain ridge. At the cairn, you can enjoy the airy feeling of standing high above the surrounding landscape.
The hike takes approximately 2.5 hours to the summit. The starting point is Øvredalen – accessed via a toll road from Egge, about 3 km south of Byrkjelo. Cross the bridge over the river and follow the marked trail up towards the ridge. At around 850 metres above sea level, you reach the ridge and pass the tree line. From here, the trail continues upwards with some scrambling sections. In some of the steeper parts, chains are available for support. From the top of Eggenipa, there are magnificent views towards Jølster, Bergheimsvatnet and the surrounding mountains.

● Sturdy hiking shoes or mountain boots – suitable for the weather and trail conditions
● Food and water
● A windproof jacket – it can be cold and windy at the summit
