Gloppen's favourable climate has made it the county's foremost agricultural area. The well-tended cultural landscape bears witness to the active role of agriculture in the area. The result is the excellent quality of local meat, milk, fruit, berries and herbs. The forest in the area is also home to a large population of deer. And there is therefore every opportunity to join a hunt or to enjoy a meal of local game.
Gloppen prides itself on its beautiful, varied nature which offers great opportunities for memorable experiences all
 year round. Enjoy nature in peace and quiet by a cabin or get out and use nature actively by hiking among the well-known summits such as Gjegnen, Ryssdalshorn and Eggenipa. Experience kayaking on the Gloppefjord or enjoy the magnificent scenery of Western Norway on horseback. A visit to one of the many well-preserved summer pasture farms is a unique experience. If you enjoy fishing, Gloppen is an eldarado both for trout
 and char fishing, but also for salmon fishing in the salmon rivers Gloppeelva and Hyeelva. It’s up to you.
The municipal centre Sandane is in a central and idyllic location by the Gloppefjord surrounded by hills and mountains. The buildings "Heradshuset" with its bell tower and "Tankeringen" enjoy a central location. The centre of Sandane also has a number of unique, small shops which offer a wide variety of goods.
Four attractions you should visit in the area:
• At historical Gloppen Hotell, great culinary experiences
 await you. The hotel offers delicious meals all year round – and most of the ingredients come from farms or fjords in the area. Enjoy a meal in the charming restaurant Stovene. Before you leave, remember to visit the hotel's popular farm shop where you can buy local specialities.
• The Daiva shop in the centre is a very unique small shop, which is reminiscent of a treasure chest, full of everything from unique toys to beautiful jewellery. Sandane’s Tourist Information Office is also in the shop. After you have finished shopping, enjoy watching the goings on over a cup of coffee!
• Nordfjord Folk Museum is in walking distance of Sandane, in a sheltered area called Jølet. The museum has recreated a farm with outlying fields which are as they would have been in Nordfjord up until the turn of the 20th century. The museum has a large collection of old buildings and objects from throughout Nordfjord.
• Visit Antikk og Rarieteter – (the barn full of curios), a wonderful mix of antique shop and function room. The barn is situated a few kilometres from the centre of Sandane, in the direction of Hyen.
Gloppen has its own airport!
As the only municipality with an airport in Nordfjord (Sandane Lufthamn), Gloppen is an important traffic hub in the region and is easily accessible from the largest cities in Norway.
